Glos sign Ireland international Harry Tector for opening One Day Cup fixture | News – Gloucestershire Cricket

Gloucestershire have signed Ireland international Harry Tector for the opening Metro Bank One Day Cup match of the season.
The specialist white-ball batter will go straight into the squad for Shire’s match vs Derbyshire at Cheltenham College tomorrow having been signed on a short-term basis to relieve pressure on Gloucestershire’s injury-hit squad.
At only the age of 23, Tector has played in more than 100 matches for Ireland including 62 IT20s and 38 ODIs. In one-day international cricket, Tector has amassed 1500 runs at an average of 50.43 and has scored 11 50s and four 100s.
Tector has played in franchise cricket overseas including for Barbados Royals in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as well as T20 cricket domestically in Ireland.
A right-hand bat and occasional bowler, Tector has 82 List A appearances to his name in which he has scored 2789 runs at an average of 42.90. He struck a career best 140 against Bangladesh in the second one-day international at Chelmsford earlier this summer.
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Tector also has 102 T20 appearances to his name and has scored 1773 runs in the shorter format.

Update July 31st, 12:00PM EDT: Bayern brass returns home without Kane deal
According to Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe will fly back to Germany without a deal for Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane.
However, that does not mean that the transfer is dead. Plettenberg even says that the Bayern Munich executives did not expect to finalize anything today.
There will be further negotiations:
Bayern bosses did not fly to London today expecting to reach a complete agreement about a transfer of Harry #Kane. They will return to Munich tonight.
Negotiations ongoing! No agreement yet! @SkySportDEpic.twitter.com/wulaHDt4de

So…essentially:
The next chapter of Bayern Munichs pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane starts momentarily.
Club CEO Jans-Chrstian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe have flown to London in hopes of striking a deal with Tottenham for the English striker. After Fridays meeting was cancelled by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, the Bavarians will try to get the transfer deal done today:
Plettenberg added more context here as well:
Bayern bosses Dreesen and Neppe on their way to London NOW – to meet Spurs boss Levy Neppe has arrived the airport a few seconds ago. #Kane
Dreesen & Neppe, very good and respectful relation with #Levy. There are concrete negotiations for days. Thats a crucial pic.twitter.com/CcdF8p3ACx

Dreesen & Neppe, very good and respectful relation with #Levy. There are concrete negotiations for days. Thats a crucial development compared to the previous weeks.
Bayern want to finalize the deal this week as reported. Kane is only waiting for an agreement between the clubs.
@SkySport_Ben | @SkySportDE
Sport1 journalist Kerry Hau broke down the aim for Bayern Munich in taking the flight this morning and how Levys stance on a sale might be changing (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):
Bayerns clear goal is to reach an agreement with Tottenham for Kane this week. Thomas Tuchel, Ange Postecoglou & Kane himself want a quick end to this saga. Clubs are in contact, talking to each other professionally – signs are pointing towards an agreement soon.
Levy has now realized that Kane wants to go to Bayern and that he has to sell him this summer because extending the contract is not an option for the player – so its now mainly about money.
Bayern want to stick to their internal limit of 100m but are also clear that this transfer would not fall through in the end because of a few million. The club is determined to fulfill Tuchels wish to sign Kane – the earlier the better.
So…what should Bayern Munich fans do now? They wait:
(cues piano music)
What do Bayern fans dreams of?
When they take a little Bayern snooze
Do they dream of mauling Dortmund?
Or Harry Kane in his Lederhosen suit
Dont you worry your pretty Bavarian head
Were gonna get Harry back to Säbener Straße and a cozy hybrid grass bed
And then were gonna celebrate our new striker Kane
And that will hopefully end the Thomas Tuchels attacking pains
Kane Kane Oh Kane Kane Kanie Kane Kane
But if Levy decides he wants to be a hardass and ruin the season….well then were sh*t outta luck.

Call from Des Buckingham played big role in my signing for Mumbai City: Akash Mishra – Khel Now

Akash Mishras transfer to Mumbai City FC from Hyderabad FC has been one of the highlights of the Indian Football summer. The Islanders paid a huge transfer fee in acquiring the services of one of the most exciting and reliable full-backs in the country. Like every other ISL team, Mumbai City FC have started their pre-season preparations and are currently based in Thailand before the season officially starts with the Durand Cup from Thursday.
The youngster spoke with the Mumbai City FC media team on his move to the west coast side and various other topics. Excerpts on the same are below.
The former Hyderabad FC man moved to Mumbai this year and he reckons that he has settled well with his new club. Its been a week here but I feel like home already. I feel like Ive been here since a very long time. I had no issues or any sort of problem settling in this club, Mishra revealed.
Many ISL clubs including Mumbai City FC were in the fray to sign the Uttar Pradesh born full-back but a phone call with Des Buckingham played a huge role in him signing for the ISL Shield winners.
I had a call with him and that call played a very big role. When I spoke to coach Des, he explained to me the way of football he sees and the way he wants to play. He explained to me the way he sees me in his plans and I think all those things really helped me and motivated me to join this club. Im happy to have made this decision and Im happy to be here at Mumbai City FC, the youngster explained.
Des Buckingham signed for the Mumbai-based CFG group club in 2021, replacing ISL Shield winner Sergio Lobera and in his second season in charge with the club he helped the team seal their second-ever ISL Shield. The 39-year-old has a very good history in shaping young players careers. The recent emergence of Lallianzuala Chhangte has been a prime example of Buckinghams influence on young players.
The AIFF emerging player of the year is excited to learn from the Englishman. He quipped, Not just me but every player has seen what Mumbai City FC have done, what Des has done in the past years. The way he works with young players, he has been outstanding.
We have seen many young players coming out of Mumbai City FC and becoming a star of Indian football. So, all those things when we see from outside really excite us to be here and come to train under him, learn from him, and to improve all those things, he added.
Akash Mishra is determined to help the Mumbai Team in their title defence this season and also shared his thoughts on playing the AFC Champions League, Title defence is important, so I would like to win the ISL Shield. We have seen Mumbai City FC do so well in the AFC Champions League so we want to continue doing that and improve as much as we can at Asias top level. We have to perform well there and test ourselves and do much better than last season.
Before signing off, the youngster had a message for the West Coast Blues where he urged the supporters to come out in large numbers.
Ive seen the crowd when I came for an away game at Mumbai and they are really loud and passionate about football. I just want them to come to the stadium and support us because well give you a brand of football that you will enjoy and well not disappoint you, he signed off.

Lionel Messi will return to Barcelona, but not for a loan or transfer, says Inter Miami owner – Barca Blaugranes

One of Inter Miamis owners, Jorge Mas, has said he wants Lionel Messi to return to say goodbye to FC Barcelonas fans. However, he denied rumors of a loan or transfer back to the Catalan club.
Speaking on the Offside with Taylor Twellman podcast, Mas said: I dont know if its some type of friendly or farewell game. They have this Gamper Trophy they play for in the summer. But there will be something where, hopefully when the new Camp Nou is open, because their stadium there they will not be playing in for the next year and a half, hopefully, Lionel Messi can say his proper goodbye.
Messi did not have a farewell game after spending most of his life with the blaugrana. Instead, he was thought to be coming back, but eventually was forced to leave the club in the summer and join Paris Saint-Germain.
That does not entail playing for Barcelona. Hes not going to go on loan there. Thats not going to happen. Yes, he deserves his correct goodbye there. Yes, and I will do everything in my power in order to facilitate and help him do that, the Inter Miami chief said.
Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba are staging a reunion in Miami. The trio have joined Inter – last place in their conference in MLS – and have so far led a successful change. With Busquets and Messi starting (Alba is yet to fully join), Miami won their first two matches in the Leagues Cup, an international cup competition.
