This win assured India for its first medal in table tennis at the 2023 Asian Games. The Indian pair was ranked world number 16 going into the quarter-final clash and caused a big upset to guarantee a medal at the Asian Games.
Ayhika and Sutirtha started off the match in assertive fashion, winning the first game 11-5 to leave the home crowd shocked. They continued their dominance and won the second game 11-5 as well.
However, the Chinese pair of Meng and Yidi bounced back with a convincing 11-5 victory in the third game. In the fourth game, China pushed India and built pressure on the Mukhrejee duo. But the pair held their nerve and managed to win the game 11-9 and cement their spot in the semi-finals.
Ayhika and Surtirtha are the only two Indians left in a medal contention in table tennis after all the other Indian athletes participating in table tennis were knocked despite putting up note-worthy performances.

R Ashwin Reaches Out To Sivaramakrishnan After Controversial Remark, `Any Fool Will Get Wickets On Tampered… – Zee News

Former Indian cricketer Laxman Sivaramakrishnan recently stirred up a social media storm with a scathing Twitter rant targeting star off-spinner R Ashwin. The crux of Sivaramakrishnan’s argument was his claim that Test match pitches in India are allegedly “doctored” to favour Ashwin’s style of bowling. This controversy unfolded amidst discussions about the upcoming World Cup commentators, leading to a heated exchange on social media.
This picture has gone viral on SM. Enlarge the image and you notice his non bowling arm and upper body has opened up towards the offside. If you look at his lower body is closed. This leads to lack of synchronisation. Ash quickly needs to correct this to be more effective pic.twitter.com/vW1aspJrOq
Laxman Sivaramakrishnan (@LaxmanSivarama1) September 29, 2023
Ravi Ashwin was nice enough to call me just a while ago to discuss his bowling action, he was as shocked with the venom of the trolls as I was . Also clarified that the people involved are in NO WAY connected to him. GOOD LUCK @ashwinravi99 Do us proud.

Sivaramakrishnan’s Initial Critique
Sivaramakrishnan’s Twitter outburst began innocuously enough, responding to a post detailing the World Cup commentator lineup. He criticized the absence of “genuine spinners” in the panel, calling it a “pathetic mix.” Among the commentators listed were renowned spinners Lisa Sthalekar, Samuel Badree, Ravi Shastri, and Russell Arnold, all with substantial international wicket records.
Taking Aim at R Ashwin
The turning point came when another commenter suggested that flat pitches would be prepared for India’s batters in the World Cup. In response, Sivaramakrishnan made a bold assertion, claiming that Indian Test pitches were deliberately tailored to suit Ashwin’s bowling prowess. He also questioned Ashwin’s performance in SENA countries (South Africa, England, New Zealand, and Australia).
Ashwin’s Response
Amidst the Twitter storm, R Ashwin maintained his composure and humility. He expressed his surprise at being included in the World Cup squad and acknowledged the difficulty of his journey back to limited-overs cricket after a substantial hiatus. Unfortunately, the warm-up match between India and England in Guwahati was washed out, denying fans an opportunity to see Ashwin’s performance on the field.
Ashwin’s Record Defended
A passionate Ashwin supporter quickly responded, defending the spinner’s impressive record and asserting his superiority over Sivaramakrishnan. Ashwin had recently been drafted into India’s World Cup squad after Axar Patel’s injury, boasting 155 ODI wickets in 115 matches. In contrast, Sivaramakrishnan’s own limited international record stood at 15 wickets in 16 ODIs and 26 wickets in nine Test matches.
Sivaramakrishnan Doubles Down
Sivaramakrishnan didn’t back down from his controversial stance. He further fueled the fire by stating, “Any fool will get wickets on tampered pitches in India.” He went on to claim that he had witnessed instances of pitch tampering firsthand, insinuating that it was done to favour Ashwin.
Escalating Hostilities
The exchange escalated as Sivaramakrishnan continued to make derogatory comments about Ashwin, calling him “unfit” and a “liability.” This relentless criticism from a former cricketer added an extra layer of intensity to the controversy.

Mitchell Starc Makes Perfect Start To Cricket World Cup 2023 Preparation, Takes Hat-Trick Against Netherlands | Cricket News – NDTV Sports

Australian cricket team fast bowler Mitchell Starc started his preparation for Cricket World Cup 2023 on a perfect note as he claimed a hat-trick during the warm-up match against Netherlands on Saturday. The veteran pacer struck on the fifth ball of the first over of the Netherlands innings as he trapped Max O’Dowd LBW with an in-swinger that nipped back late. One ball later, it was Wesley Barresi who fell victim to his pace as he tricked him with another in-swinger that crashed into the top of the off-stump. Starc had to wait one over to get his hat-trick but he made no mistake as Bas de Leede was clean bowled on the first ball of the third over with yet another in-swinger.
Meanwhile, persistent rain on Saturday washed out the World Cup warm-up match between India and England at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
It began raining a little before the start of the match on Saturday afternoon, which resulted in the toss being delayed but later in the evening the umpires decided to abandon the contest, a little before 6pm local time owing to inclement weather.
All 10 teams will get to play two warm-up matches each before the group stage of the 50-over World Cup which gets underway in Ahmedabad on October 5.
England will face New Zealand in the World Cup opener.
England, who arrived in India a day before their first warm-up match, will remain in Guwahati to play their second and final warm-up game against Bangladesh on October 2.
The warm-up matches began on Friday with Sri Lanka suffering a seven-wicket defeat at the hands of Bangladesh here, while New Zealand defeated Pakistan in a high-scoring contest in Hyderabad.
The warm-up matches are being played at three venues Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad.

RB Leipzig 2-2 Bayern Munich: Initial reactions and observations – Bavarian Football Works

Initial reactions and observations

  • The game ends at 2-2, which is a fair enough result given the chances at both ends. Only Bayern Munich fans have to ask themselves is this it? Is this the best that Tuchelball can do?
  • One side had Harry Kane and Leroy Sané and the other one didnt. Even then, the game was this close. Its just like with Leverkusen seems like Bayern are not able to beat the best teams at the moment.
  • Credit to the coach where its due. The second half substitutions definitely changed the game in Bayerns favor. RBL probably thought they had won after the first half they had. Certainly many of the fans (on both sides) probably did.
  • Harry Kane continues his streak of zero service from the Bayern attack. Did we spend 100m on a specialist penalty taker? He needs more from this system if hes going to justify his price tag. A single penalty in a game this big is not enough.
  • Bayern Munich have now slid down the table after starting the matchday in first place. What will the standings look like by the end of October? Not many Bundesliga games next month, but its still hard to predict.

Full time: Bayern Munich 2-2 RB Leipzig.
70 GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Leroy Sané makes it 2-2!
56 GOOOOOOOOOOOAL! Harry Kane steps up and makes it 2-1!
45 The second half kicks off with Bayern making two HT subs. Tel and Guerreiro are on for Coman and Goretzka.
Halftime: Bayern Munich are losing 2-0. Its a disaster.
26 Goal. Disaster for Bayern, Leipzig make it 2-0 thanks to a major error from Ulreich.
19 Goal. Openda makes it 1-0 to Leipzig. Well that was expected.
Kickoff: Were underway!
One hour until kickoff: We have lineups! Bayern Munich once again feature a standard 4-2-3-1 with Harry Kane up top, Jamal Musiala behind him, and Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané on the wings. Konrad Laimer starts against his former club at right-back.
Going to be an interesting game for sure.
Many people think the top two teams in Germany are Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. However, in recent seasons, RB Leipzig have seriously challenged that notion. While BVB did come within a single point of the title last season, it was Leipzig who actually challenged and beat Bayern on the pitch to make that possible.
In terms of squad, tactics, and overall quality of play (not necessarily results) these are the two best teams in Germany right now. Which is why Thomas Tuchel needs to beat them. He needs to prove he can beat high level opposition while in charge of Bayern Munich. Hes never beaten Leipzig before (in two attempts) so this is a good time to start.
Meanwhile, for certain other players, it could be personal. Konrad Laimer is a former RBL man, so he may want to play at his best against his previous employer. Harry Kane, meanwhile, had his debut in Germany ruined by the cans in a humiliating defeat during the DFL Supercup. In fact, that Supercup game and last seasons title race should be on the minds of a lot of the players.
Its Bayern time.

IND vs ENG World Cup 2023: Suryakumar Yadav will have to prove a point during this World Cup
The destructive batter in T20 format has been a bit shy in ODIs that the player himself has accepted. He has scored 667 runs in 28 innings with an average of 27.79. However, SKY has been trying to get in touch, as he had scores of 50, 78 not out, and 8 in the three-match ODI series against Australia.

Player Ratings: Girona 0 – 3 Real Madrid; 2023 La Liga – Managing Madrid

Full match player ratings below:
Kepa8: Aggressive off his line albeit with some unconventional punch-clearance decisions. Important saves in the second half to preserve the clean sheet.
Dani Carvajal7: A solid return from his brief injury locked down the in-form Savio and forced him to switch flanks after the break.
Toni Rudiger7: Underrated positive theme from the season has been Toni Rudigers prominence and consistent performances following Militaos injury. Only blemish on his performance tonight were a few mistimed aerial duels inside the box that fortunately did not end in a goal for Girona.
Nacho5: A great game until his daft red-card in the final minutes of the match with scoreline at 3-0.
Eduardo Camavinga9: He may not like the position, but Camavinga is the best left back in the squad. Sensational performance – hardly put a foot wrong both offensively and defensively. Finished the match with an astounding 9 completed tackles.
Tchouameni9: The Frenchman continues to be one of the bright lights since the start of the new season. Scored the second goal from a header off of a Kroos corner kick and was the ultimate ball-winner in midfield. Finished the match with 4 completed tackles, 3 interceptions, 8 of 11 ground duels won, was fouled 3 times, and 1 key pass including the transition play for Bellinghams goal.
Toni Kroos7: Brilliant curled set-piece for Tchouamenis headed goal. Progressed play and balanced well with Bellingham and Camavinga towards the left side of the pitch.
Fede Valverde6.5: In Carlos new-look midfield for the night, Valverde featured more as a right midfielder than an interior and did a great two-way job. Helped keep Miguel and Savio quiet down Gironas left.
Jude Bellingham9: Scored his 6th goal of the La Liga season and produced a magical outside of the boot assist to Joselu to open the scoring. Always seems to pop up in the right pockets of space and nearly had two other goals on the night, missing a 1 v 1 chance after outpacing Daley Blind from 20 yards away and a scrappy opportunity in the box fell to him, but was unable to get the final shot on target. Played mostly as a left midfielder instead of at the tip of the diamond and combined with Vinicius Junior to great effect.
Vinicius JR7: Fun to have the brilliant Brazilian back. One of the most unique players in all of world football and provided glimpses of his elite technical skills on the night. Combined well with Bellingham down the left flank and put in a solid 70 minute shift to regain fitness levels.
Joselu7: Up to 4 goals in La Liga and pushing Bellingham at the top of the Pichichi charts. Worked tirelessly defensively and did well to beat out Daley Blind and put home his goal early in the first half.
Substitutions:
Rodrygo6: Replaced Vinicius Junior in 70th minute. Nearly broke his scoring duct with a brilliant solo effort weaving through multiple defenders inside the box. Kicked the post in frustration, clearly wants to put an end to this barren run.
Dani Ceballos7: Replaced Bellingham and played the left midfielder / advanced #8 role. Smooth on the ball and high-energy as always.
Lucas VazquezN/A: Played the last 3 minutes of the match.
Brahim DiazN/A: Played the last 3 minutes of the match.
