Meanwhile, RGIA police were alerted upon seeing the movement of the public and learnt a Pakistan flag waving and immediately detained him.
Basheer Chacha cooperated for the questioning once he was explained the misunderstanding and introduced himself as an avid supporter of the Pakistan cricket team and came to India for the match.

India vs Saudi Arabia LIVE: Updates, live score, commentary from Asian Games – ESPN India

India’s Asian Games campaign in men’s football faces the tough task of overcoming Saudi Arabia in the Round of 16 knockout tie on Thursday, September 28 at 5pm IST. Sunil Chhetri has scored two of India’s three goals in the competition, in the most recent 1-1 draw against Myanmar, and the 1-0 win over Bangladesh. Rahul KP scored the only goal for Igor Stimac’s side as they lost their opener 1-5 to China.
Four points were enough for India to qualify to the knockouts, beating out Myanmar on account of goals scored. Given India’s squad wasn’t a full-strength one, the knockouts were the best one could expect ahead of the games. With the might of Saudi Arabia in the pre-quarterfinal, there is the expectation that India’s football campaign at the Asian Games could come to an end.
However, coach Igor Stimac is planning to give his opponents a tough game, saying “We need to analyse Saudi Arabia, their weak points and strength and prepare a starting XI to give them a hard time. We qualified for the knockouts round despite all the problems. I am very proud of the boys especially for Sunil and Sandesh. They led these youngsters without giving them opportunity to find alibi for the circus, I would say.”
“Nurturing the young players is much easier with Sunil and Sandesh around. For a coach the most important place is the training pitch but that was hardly possible (here). The other thing is explanations, individual meetings, discussions what to do on certain situations on the pitch. When second half starts, fatigue kicks in and your brain does not work because oxygen is not coming.”
Sunil Chhetri has featured in all three games and there is the worry of fatigue taking its toll after a packed calendar recently. “He (Chhetri) is not listening to his coach. I wanted to take him out in the 60th minute but he does not want to come out,” Stimac joked.
Yet, the coach’s mood is positive overall, even noting that he’d found a few new prospects for the national team, saying “”Qualifying for knockouts is the most satisfying thing. The biggest positive is, I found a couple of boys who will serve us really well in future. I can’t tell their names, because if I do so, they may start flying.”

Bangladesh Skipper Shakib Al Hasan Rips Into ‘Childish’ Teammate Tamim Iqbal – NDTV Sports

The Bangladesh cricket team is going through a troublesome phase, right before the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. In the final 15-man squad that the Bangla Tigers announced, there was no space for star opening batter Tamim Iqbal while Shakib Al Hasan was named the captain of the side. Tamim’s exit from the team left many surprised, but according to skipper Shakib, the management had few options but to axe Tamim, who is ‘childish’ and a player who plays for ‘individual success over team’s’.
In a chat with Bangladesh media outlet, T Sports, Shakib took a swipe at Tamim, claiming the opening batter didn’t want to play in the middle order, even if it benefitted the team. Shakib cited the example of India’s Rohit Sharma as he explained why a player would always keep the team in front.
“Someone like Rohit Sharma built his career from No. 7 to opener, scored 10,000-plus runs. If he sometimes bats at No. 3 or 4, would it be a big problem? It is totally childish. It is my bat, I will play. No one else can play. A player should bat at any position for the team. Team first. It doesn’t make any difference if you have made 100 or 200, and the team loses. What can you do with personal achievement? You want to make a name for yourself?,” he said.
“You are not thinking about the team at all. People don’t understand these things. Why was the proposal given to him? It was for the team. What is wrong with that? You are a team man when you agree to such a proposal. Unless you are thinking along those lines, you are not a team man. You are playing for individual records, success, fame, and name. Not for the team,” he added.
It was also reported that Tamim wasn’t fully fit to play the entire World Cup. Though the batter claimed that he was fit for the World Cup but it was the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s decision to not include him in the roster despite that. Shakib, however, said that he didn’t want to include a player in the team that had fitness question marks all over him.
“I didn’t discuss the subject with the particular player, medical team or selector. It is definitely the board’s decision. People might doubt my capability or capacity but someone like MS Dhoni, who has won everything and has the knowledge and sense, once said that the unfit player who is playing is cheating his team and country. I think we should accept it, and not just Tamim but every player (that you have to be fully fit when playing for the team or country).”
Shakib was also disappointed by Tamim’s decision to quit as Bangladesh skipper just 2 months before the start of the ODI World Cup.
“I have often heard in the dressing room that he is leaving the captaincy. Even a player once told him that ‘bhai, leave it early so that the new captain gets a bit of time’. Exactly that’s what happened. The one who came in didn’t get the time. Each and everyone knew including the selectors and board officials. Papon bhai (BCB president Nazmul Hassan) certainly knew about it,” said Shakib.
“I don’t know why he didn’t leave it (earlier). He can tell you. It is like, your commander takes you to war but (Shakib mimicking a soldier) after he has got you ready, the commander isn’t telling you to fire or retreat. Where will you go? We were in this situation in the last two matches against Afghanistan (in July).
“The captain wouldn’t have changed ahead of the Asia Cup and the World Cup, unless he himself announced that he was resigning or retiring. It would have happened 18 months ago, when everyone knew what was about to happen,” he explained.

‘Lamb Chops, Mutton Curry…’: Pakistan Team’s Food Menu Upon Hyderabad Arrival Revealed – NDTV Sports

Media caption, ‘Putin hates Clinton’ and other things the FBI learned about Russia
FBI director James Comey has confirmed for the first time that the FBI is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election.
However, Mr Comey said his agency had seen no evidence to back up President Trump’s claim that his phones had been tapped by the Obama administration.
He was giving evidence to the congressional intelligence committee.
The Trump administration said nothing had changed and there was “no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion”.
Russia has always denied attempting to influence the US presidential election.
The FBI investigation would examine possible links between individuals in the Trump campaign and the Russian government and whether there was co-ordination between the Trump campaign and Russia, Mr Comey said.
The FBI would also assess whether crimes were committed, he said.
Mr Comey said the investigation was “very complex” and he could not give a timetable for its completion.
“We will follow the facts wherever they lead,” he said.

Image caption, Mr Putin “hated Mrs Clinton so much” that he had a strong preference for her rival, Mr Comey said
But White House press secretary Sean Spicer suggested the administration was not concerned, saying: “You can continue to look for something, but continuing to look for something that doesn’t exist doesn’t matter.”
National Security Agency (NSA) chief Admiral Mike Rogers also appeared before the committee.
He said the NSA stood by an intelligence community report published in January, which said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered a campaign to harm the campaign of Mr Trump’s rival, Hillary Clinton.
Mr Comey said he had no information on unsubstantiated claims tweeted by Mr Trump this month that former President Barack Obama had ordered a wiretap on Trump Tower.
This was despite looking carefully for such evidence, he said. The Department of Justice also had no information, he said.
What FBI director James Comey didn’t say during intelligence hearings today on possible Russian meddling in the 2016 US election was as important as what he did say.
Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort, who had ties to pro-Russian Ukrainian politicians? No comment. Long-time Trump adviser Roger Stone, who reportedly had communications with individuals who hacked the Democratic National Committee emails? No comment. Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, who was forced to resign after leaked evidence surfaced that he had communicated with a Russian ambassador about US sanctions? No comment.
“I don’t want to answer any questions about a US person,” Mr Comey said.
All of this is evidence that the investigation isn’t just ongoing, it’s substantive and far-reaching.
While Democrats will likely be encouraged by this, it was telling that Republicans pursued the White House line – that the topic of greatest concern was the intelligence leaks that put this story in the headlines.
If Mr Trump can consolidate his party’s support, it will go a long way towards insulating the president against any fallout from this investigation.
Will FBI investigation ensnare Trump?
Meanwhile, Adm Rogers strongly denied that the NSA had asked Britain’s GCHQ intelligence agency to spy on Mr Trump – a claim that had been repeated by Sean Spicer.
The allegation “clearly frustrates a key ally of ours”, he added.
GCHQ had described the claim as “utterly ridiculous”.
Image caption, Mr Trump raised eyebrows after he suggested both he and Mrs Merkel had been wiretapped by Mr Obama
Mr Trump’s recent joke about how Mr Obama had wiretapped both German Chancellor Angela Merkel and him “complicates things” with an ally, Adm Rogers added.
However, Devin Nunes, the Republican chairman of the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee, said it was still possible that other surveillance activities had been used against Mr Trump and his associates.
In January, US intelligence agencies said Kremlin-backed hackers had broken into the email accounts of senior Democrats and released embarrassing messages in order to help Mr Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.
“That was a fairly easy judgement for the community,” Mr Comey said. “Putin hated Secretary Clinton so much that the flipside of that coin was he had a clear preference for the person running against the person he hated so much.”
However, late last summer the Russians concluded that Mr Trump had no chance of winning, based on polls at the time, and so focused on undermining Mrs Clinton, Mr Comey said.
Media caption, Trump’s wiretap saga explained in two minutes
Both intelligence chiefs said that Russia had made its intervention in last year’s election campaign unusually obvious, perhaps to further its aim of undermining US democracy.
Mr Comey said Russia had succeeded in this goal, by sowing chaos, division and discord.
Mr Trump has since faced allegations that his campaign team had links to Russian officials.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper has said he saw no evidence of any collusion, up until the time he left his post in January.
Two senior officials in the Trump administration have been caught up in the allegations – former national security adviser Michael Flynn, and Attorney-General Jeff Sessions.
Mr Flynn was fired last month after he misled the White House about his conversations with the Russian ambassador before he was appointed national security adviser.
Image caption, Michael Flynn encouraged a softer policy on Russia and a harder line on Iran
He allegedly discussed US sanctions with ambassador Sergei Kislyak. It is illegal for private citizens to conduct US diplomacy.
Meanwhile, Mr Sessions was accused by Democrats of lying under oath during his confirmation hearing in January.
He said he had “no communications with the Russians”, but it later emerged that he had met Mr Kislyak during the campaign.
Mr Sessions denied any wrongdoing, but removed himself from any FBI inquiry into Russia’s alleged interference.

ICC World Cup 2023 India Final Squad Announcement Live Updates: BCCI to submit final squad, suspense continues on Ashwin | Mint – Mint

ICC World Cup 2023 Indias Final Squad Announcement Live Updates: Rohit Sharma led Indian side for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is set to be announced today. While the provisional squad was announced earlier this month, the deadline for submitting the final squad for coveted ICC tournament is today. Any changes in the World Cup squad after today will have to be approved by the ICC.
The 15-member squad is likely to remain more or less unchanged with one exception of injury-ridden Axar Patel. Patel is currently out of the side owing to a quadriceps strain and veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had found a place in his absence during the recently concluded series against Australia.
Reports suggest that Patel is likely to be fit before India begins their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, Ashwin’s performance in the recently concluded ODI series against Australia has made the job of selectors difficult.
The 37-year-old could add some much-needed variety to India’s bowling line-up, which currently lacks an off-spinner. Patel, on the other hand, is a much better batsman at number 8, as his performances over the past year or so have shown.

India World Cup Squad 2023 Live: Describing his position on the debate over Ravichandran Ashwin’s inclusion in India’s World Cup squad, Sunil Gavaskar said, The way he has bowled in the last two matches, I think he has made the cut for the World Cup squad. If there is even a hint of doubt on Axar Patel’s fitness, whether he’ll be completely fit for the entire World Cup; because any injury can be a recurring one and he needs to be careful. If the team management think they can’t take that chance with Axar because it is the World Cup and everyone wants their squad to be 100 percent fit; so if there are any doubts then Ashwin could make a comeback.”
The former cricketer added, He has bowled exceptionally well in the last 3-4 overs he bowled in Mohali, then the way he utilised the carrom ball in Indore. So if there are any doubts on Axar, Ashwin will come back into the team.”

At No. 6 and 7 KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya will be there. So Suryakumar won’t be there at either of those positions. There is No. 5 though. But if Hardik Pandya is your sixth bowler then Rahul will bat at No. 5, and Hardik at No. 6, then comes the bowlers. We thought Ishan Kishan could fit in somewhere in the line-up, but that hundred which Shreyas Iyer scored, if he plays at No. 4 then it will be Iyer, Rahul and Hardik at No. 4, 5 and 6 respectively,” former Indian opener Virender Sehwag said.

“Worse than I thought”, “Should be shipped to China” – Manchester City fans left unimpressed with 2 stars after loss to Newcastle in EFL Cup – Sportskeeda

Manchester City fans expressed their displeasure about the performance of midfielders Jack Grealish and Kalvin Phillips in their 1-0 EFL Cup third-round loss to Newcastle United on Wednesday (September 27).
Both sides fielded much-changed lineups, with City making seven and Newcastle making 10, leading to a rather tepid first half. City could have taken the lead if not for two squandered opportunities by Julian Alvarez.
It was eventually the Magpies who broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute through Isak, converting a pass from Joelinton. City, though, failed to muster a response, with Grealish and Phillips fading after the break after a bright first half.
Phil Foden, Matheus Nunes, and Jeremy Doku were thrown into the fray, but the Magpies held on to move on to the next round. It was Manchester City’s second loss inside 90 minutes in 38 games across competitions as they exited the cup competition early.
Fans tore with Grealish and Phillips, urging the club to sell the pair to China. One tweeted:
“Phillips and Grealish should be shipped to China.”
Another chimed in:
“Phillips, also Grealish, worse than I thought”
Here are some of the top reactions on X, formerly called Twitter:
The Magpies next take on holders Manchester United for a place in the quarterfinals.
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola
Manchester City have made a splendid start to the season. After losing to Arsenal on penalties in the FA Community Shield, Pep Guardiola’s men won eight straight games across three different competitions.
That saw the Cityzens win their maiden UEFA Super Cup, win their first six league games of the season, and also win their UEFA Champions League opener. However, they stumbled in the opening hurdle of the EFL Cup.
Guardiola, though, had no qualms acknowledging that Newcastle played better and deserved the win, telling Sky Sports (via the BBC):
“We played an incredible game. They increased after the break and were more aggressive. They scored a goal. Last season, we were out against Southampton and not there, but tonight we were. Congratulations to Newcastle.”
He added:
“They start to be more aggressive. Yeah, it was a tight game, and the players who played played really good. It is football. The way we played in the first half and second half was amazing. But they played aggressive to win the game.”
City will hope to return to winning ways in the Premier League this weekend when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday (September 30). They lead the standings by two points over second-placed Liverpool (16 points).
