Panathinaikos 1-4 Chelsea, UEFA Conference League: Post-match reaction, ratings – We Ain’t Got No History

It was all Panathinaikos for the first five minutes of the game.
Then it was all Chelsea for the next 85, plus stoppage time.
In the first half, much of that control was of the dominant yet non-directly threatening kind, but we did open the scoring halfway through the half with Mudryk setting up Félix for an easy tap-in. We couldve had more, but we lacked the true killer instinct to make it happen.
No such shortcomings in the second half however, with three-goal salvo in the opening 15 minutes of the period quickly putting the contest to bed. Félix got another, Mudryk got a well deserved one as well, and Nkunku converted a penalty for good measure.
Both sides started making changes and the home side got a consolation, but the outcome was never in danger or doubt.
Carefree.

  • Not quite a full B squad lineup, with Cucurella and Enzo getting the start: Cucu at left back, with Veiga sliding to center back just as he did for Portugal last time out.
  • Enzo captain, then Disasi
  • No debut for either Rak-Sakyi or Mheuka, but plenty of minutes of George and Guiu, plus a run-out for Chukwuemeka
  • Almost made it through without a yellow until Disasis late infraction
  • Next up: Newcastle at home in the league, then Newcastle away in the League Cup
  • KTBFFH
